Sweet Summertime

Grammy and Grumpy rented a boat on Lake Conroe and we had an awesome afternoon taking the kids tubing for the first time.  They couldn't get enough!

I was glad I wore my swimsuit because I definitely wanted a turn (or two)

Grumpy got in on the action as well!

Equally fun was learning to drive the boat!  We'll definitely be doing this again.

Houston friends will appreciate this one - we got to talk to Mattress Mac at Gallery Furniture and he was as nice of a guy as I could have hoped.  It's fun meeting a legend and finding out he's really a man of character.

We got in one last visit to the museum downtown.

I was lucky enough to get away for a weekend with some of my favorite ladies in the world.  First stop was Salt Lick barbecue, definitely worth the drive!

 
We spent a ton of time taking advantage of our season passes at the new waterpark over the summer but I only have a few pictures to remember the fun.  I realized at the end of the summer that we never even visited our neighborhood pool a single time because every time we wanted a swim, we hit the waterpark.

 

But sadly, summer came to an end, as it always does.  It was a really fun season and I had a blast with the kids.  I'm so thankful that I get to spend this time with them!

Cousins!

The best part about having a sister who teaches is that we get to see each other a lot in the summer.  The kids waited very (im)patiently for their cousins to arrive and shockingly, both turned to books to pass the time.  Casey joined them.

 

Casey wasn't so interested in the human visitors but she was fascinated with their dwarf hamsters.  She was glued here all afternoon!

Ben and Carter were awesome buddies...

We had to make a special trip to Wal-Mart so Alex could get the same awesome t-shirt like Reid.

My birthday wish was a beach day and it worked our perfectly, after we dodged some major rain and found a nice private beach. It was Carter's first time!  He wasn't a big fan at first but warmed up to the sand and waves by the end of the day.

The big boys were GONE!  They had a blast playing in the waves and digging in the sand.

Matt had to work that day, but he wisely picked up a cookie cake to make my birthday perfect when I got home :)
