Sentosa Fountains

Yesterday Ben and I went to check out Esplanade Park, a beautiful park along the river in downtown Singapore. Behind Ben you can see the Esplanade (the performance hall here), which is supposed to look like a local durian fruit. You can also see the Singapore Flyer that is currently under construction but will be the biggest ferris wheel in the world when completed....at least for a few months until they finish one in China that is a little bigger. It's already fully booked for its first three months of operation in early 2008! These locals are really excited.

I thought this was a pretty interesting flower. It's from the cannonball tree and smelled like a familiar magnolia, so it actually made me pretty homesick for Texas!

On the other side of the river is Boat Quay, a row of old Chinese shophouses that have been renovated and turned into waterfront restuarants. We enjoyed a nice lunch there. Well, I enjoyed my lunch and Ben enjoyed throwing food on the ground. Thank goodness we were eating outside!

Later we went to Sentosa Island with some friends to check out the kids play area. It wasn't quite what I expected but Ben didn't seem to mind at all.

Ben must have been putting on quite a show because he actually had several photographers. Or maybe it was because all of the other kids had swimsuits and mine was running around in soaking clothes?

My soggy little man!
