Nusa Lembongan

When we arrived on Nusa Lembongan, still part of the Bali province, we got the island-style transport to our villa.  The kids and I were the only ones who had been and knew what to expect but things were SO much quieter than 3 1/2 years ago.

We were dropped off at Secret Beach and got our first look at our home for the week, Villa Sayang. We followed the staircase along the rock wall up to the 4-bedroom side at the top.

The entrance looked very stately and we were hoping it was going to be amazing inside.

The first look did not disappoint! What incredible views!!

We had already arranged for our dinner to be cooked in the villa and birthday cake to celebrate Tate.

The decor inside has to be my favorite of anywhere we've stayed.  It was simple and beautiful and very true to Balinese style.

Clearly, I took a lot of pictures from the same place!  I think I would walk down the stairs from the bedrooms and see the view and need to capture it, but I love how the colors would change all throughout the day.

We even had a resident turtle boy to keep us company.

The kids were allowed some screen time every day and generally all chose to play Minecraft together. We especially appreciated the two separate living areas across the pool so the grownups could read our books on the other side without hearing all the commentary!

No complaints about spending some time here!

I'm not a huge fan of the giant geckos and they were plentiful.

These two in the ceiling were freaking me out because I've had more than one gecko fall on me.  Thankfully, they kept to their territory and ate mosquitoes all night.

We had lots of activity in the morning but generally had time to relax in the afternoons.  We called in masseuses every day! One upstairs for foot massages (like Macy in the back) and one downstairs in the spa room for the adults to take shifts.

Alex was a fan of the foot massages as well. These sweet ladies hadn't had clients in nearly a year and were so happy to come every afternoon!

I also really enjoyed the view toward Bali and how it changed from sunrise...

...to midday.

The villa grounds were lovely as well and made it such a relaxing haven.

Even at night, it was beautiful.

Our view from the big family table was amazing and many days we got views of the volcanos on Bali.

We loved, loved having a staff to cook our breakfast each morning and it was pretty hard not to get this eggs benedict every day! We were ready for all kinds of adventures after fueling up like this...
